More Fresno

We’re in the Camping World/Paul Evert service center today until about 5:30. Today is going to be a little rough for Alladin, as he was not permitted to stay in the rig during the servicing. Therefore, he had to come with us, and he’s currently in his crate. Later, we will take him out for a walk and let him wander around the waiting room. But, and here’s the real problem, we don’t have a litter box available for him, and I know for a fact that this will become a problem, sometime around noon. I’m hoping he will discover that dirt outside is just as wonderful to potty in as granules indoors. He’s a smart cat. And if he doesn’t, well, I brought towels and cleaning solution, and there’s a washer/dryer available for customer use.

Did I mention that? One more way this place ROCKS MY SOCKS! They have a washer/dryer in the waiting room, and it’s explicitly labeled as “Free for Customer Use!” I thought they were joking when they mentioned it, but there it is– sign and all. I ran out to the RV before they pulled it into a service bay so I could grab the full hamper, I tell you what! I am not so proud as to pass up a free, efficient laundry when it’s offered!

However, they don’t really have wifi here, and I’m using my cell phone as a connection point in the meantime. And sharing it with Johnny, even though technically I’m not supposed to do that (but for a few hours one time, I think they’ll overlook it).

Also, they have free coffee, which is always a nice touch. And popcorn, though that’s a really common car-sales gimmick (this place is also a dealership, which is probably why they understand the connection between customer service and sales).

Oh, I almost forgot to talk about the park we stayed in for the past 2 nights. It was “only two nights,” so we didn’t really fret over it, but I gotta say, I am intensely amused when I’m put into “Site 44E” and we realize later (as we’re discussing whether the view of a stone wall six inches from our window is better than the view of our neighbor’s kitchen window six inches from the other window) that the “E” stands for “East,” which is why the site next to us is 44W. Yes, indeed, at some point in this park’s history, they decided to split a full-sized RV site in two. So, we basically paid full price for the privilege of parking in half of a spot. Winners.

Meanwhile, we have been to a local yarn shop here in Fresno (Ancient Pathways— very friendly, yarn sorted by color, a nice needle selection, and classes of course), and I had fun and bought some needles (while John waited semi-patiently and bought nothing). On the way to the yarn shop, we passed a few donut shops. Er. Well, that might be an understatement. We passed at least five, including one across the street from the RV park, and another down the block from the yarn shop. We also noticed four Krispy Kreme trucks parked in sites in the RV park (all of them in full sites, btw… I’m just sayin’). Indeed, it’s clear to me that Fresno considers fried dough to be its local treasure, and there must be a city statute requiring no more than a 500 foot walk in any direction to the nearest donut shop.

We had cereal for breakfast. We’re such philistines.
