#19: I Thought You Said This Would Work by Ann Garvin. Road trip novel about women retrieving their ill best friend’s dog.

#20: The Last American Vampire by Seth Grahame-Smith. Sequel to Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Uh… if you want an alternate history novel where every major American historical event somehow involves one immortal being, I guess this is it? (Honestly, I liked the Nathaniel Cade books more– they were better focused, though if you’re looking for a set of shorter stories connected together, this one works for that.)

#21: If I Understood You, Would I Have this Look on my Face? by Alan Alda. Really good non-fiction book about communication, empathy, and science.

#22: This Way Out by Tuufayel Ahmed. Novel about a gay Muslim man struggling to fit his life with his beliefs and that of his non-Muslim partner.
