Josh Wolf is OUT!!!

Josh Wolf was released today from jail in San Francisco, where he has been jailed longer than any journalist in the history of America ever, for refusing to testify and give evidence against people he was reporting on.

Naturally, being a good vlogger, Josh immediately posted the full video on his blog as soon as he’s out.

Josh is a friend– I saw him last year at Vloggercon, and he’s a good guy. I wish him all the greatest tonight celebrating with friends, and in the coming weeks.

We love you, Josh, and we’re glad you can finally come home.

BBC NEWS | Business | YouTubers to get ad money share Finally! YouTube members have a chance at seeing some of the millions of dollars that everyone else is making off of their content! Sadly, it’s just advertising shares. I’m beginning to hate the ad model for online business….

StevenLevy.com » Blog Archive » What were the best tech stories of 2006? Steven Levy is editing the Best Technology Writing. That’s Technology Writing, not “Tech Writing” as boingboing incorrectly called it– “Tech Writing” or “Technical Writing” is a particular type of writing, Cory, and is not the same as technology writing, tech blogging, or tech journalism. We who participate in the art would be shocked if anyone read our work in the original, much less if it were anthologized.

MetroMan – Confessions of a Metrosexual Dad: Why the Hipster PDA is Rubbish!. I agree with about half of his 43 reasons not to use a notepad as your organizer, and add that a notepad is really ideal for the “capture” stage of organization, but is terribly inefficient when you have to sort and make decisions and sort information. Archiving is pretty easy, though, if you have a paper-based archive system. For those who are paperless, though, you end up needing to either scan or type in your notes, which can be inefficient at best.

Josh’s Acceptance Speech at SPJ Dinner

Josh’s Acceptance Speech at SPJ Dinner:
“There is a war on journalism and I am a POW. I am not the first. And I will probably not be the last. But I’d like to thank the Northern California chapter of SPJ for recognizing how crucial this matter is and for honoring the resistance of Mark, Lance and myself by naming us Journalists of the Year.”

Also from his blog: There is an awesome benefit planned for December 7, at 7:30 PM at the Balzo Gallery, 2183 Mission in San Francisco, between 17th and 18th Street. Speakers include Mark Leno, California Assemblyman, Chris Daley and Ross Mirkirimi, San Francisco Supervisors, David Greene, Executive Director of the First Amendment Project and one of Josh’s lawyers, Sarah Olson, Independent Journalist and Jane Kim, newly elected to the San Francisco school board. A short film about Josh made by friends and filmakers, Kevin Epps and Njeri Sims will be shown. I wish I could be there.
