So, I’ve gone to a few dance lessons in the past year or so. 45 minutes of “here’s how to waltz. Here’s the rumba.” Etc. We’ve been going to a nearby studio, which we’ve enjoyed and which is well within our budgets.

Last week, my dance partner and I went to a swing class, which was scary and intimidating because there were 20 people there and all of them were very good and I felt really, really awkward. This is unusual for me, and I can’t say I hated it. But I didn’t really enjoy it.

Last night, we tried an Arthur Murray studio. I mean, this is like the Dale Carnegie of dancing, right? The program’s over 100 years old. I figured we’d be the only 2 people under 80 in the room.

Boy, did I have that wrong! It was a great lesson, and we learned a lot. My estimate is that the program is about 3 times what we pay at the other studio, but we probably learned 5x as much as we do in a typical class.

Not sure we can afford to continue indefinitely, but we definitely enjoyed the lesson we had, and I hope we can go back!
