For Trade: Socks for Fighting Leukemia!

Oh, I know you will all be very, very tempted by this one. Anyone who’s seen the constant parade of socks in my blog/journal will be tempted. Understand: I do not knit on request. Not on request, not on command, and never for pay. I only knit for love.

My friend Michelle is doing Team in Training, fundraising to fight leukemia and other blood cancers. As you may recall, I have also done this, and I know what an uphill fight the fundraising can be.

Her donation page is here.

Anyone donating $100 to her fundraiser between now and September 1 will get a pair of handknit socks from me, in your size, in your colors. I’ll pick the actual yarn used, but will accommodate allergies as much as I can (if you have a wool allergy, please be aware that you might get slippers, as sock yarn with 0 wool content is very hard to find).

To claim your socks:

  1. Donate $100 to Michelle’s fundraiser.
  2. Leave a comment here with your full name, preferred sock colors, and foot size. Not shoe size. Measure around the ball of your foot and the full length from the back of the heel to the toe. Do this for both right and left– most people’s feet are slightly different sizes. If you want the socks made for someone other than yourself, include their information instead of your own. Also include any special concerns, like allergies, “color must be solid” (for uniforms), and if your feet/ankles tend to swell (and you would therefore like a very stretchy sock with a non-binding cuff).
  3. I’ll confirm the donation with Michelle and let you know when your socks will be done.

Spread the word. I would be deliriously happy if I had to make 60 pairs of socks!
