NaNoWriMo-No

In years past, I’ve attempted to do NaNoWriMo while also starting a new job or project, and it never really works. The kind of concentration I need to maintain to write a novel in 30 days is so intense, whatever else I’m working on tends to fall to the background.

Well, yesterday I got a big new contract which will be in the throes of phase I in about November. Since I don’t want to blow it with a big new client, and I need to give it my very best…. I’m out for NaNoWriMo this year.

It’s too bad, but I’m in a pretty good creative space, even without NaNoWriMo, so I don’t feel so bad about it. Also, by not doing NaNoWriMo, I feel like I can finally commit to 24 Hour Comic Day, which is in mid-October. Usually in past years, my creative energies are all bound up with NNWM by mid-October, and there’s just no way I can spare enough to bend myself to a graphic story.

So, look forward to some posts before October 18th as the ideas start spinning through my head. Who knows? If it’s not total crap, I might even post the resulting comic here.
