October 2007: Book Reviews

This is an archive of my shorter book reviews and notes, which historically have been posted over at the 50 Book Challenge on LiveJournal, but which I’m starting to move over here. I’m posting them with altered date-stamps, but they might show up in my LiveJournal cross-post anyway. Bear with me, please.

Note: Many of these books also have full reviews available in the book review podcast (RSS).

#72:

Monster Island: A Zombie Novel, by David Wellington

Creepy book about going to New York after the zombies have taken over, and attempting a rescue. I read it on the original blog page and will probably end up buying the sequels to read.

#73:

The Book of Taltos, by Steven Brust

An omnibus of two of the Vlad Taltos books. The second one made me a little sad and anxious, though I’m not sure if I’ll keep reading these compulsively, or just pick them up once in a while when I’m in the mood for a little Vlad.

#74:

Hard Eight (Stephanie Plum Series #8), by Janet Evanovich

#75:

A Most Unconventional Courtship (Harlequin Historical Series), by Louise Allen

#76:

Jolie Blon’s Bounce: A Novel, by James Lee Burke
#77:

To the Nines (Stephanie Plum Novels), by Janet Evanovich
#78:

All the President’s Men, by Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein

No reviews today, except to ask where Woodward and Bernstein are now? But I suppose having them use real journalism on this administration would be like shooting fish in a barrel (or lawyers in the face…. your pick).

#79:

The World’s Stupidest Graffiti (The World’s Stupidest series), by Michael O’Mara Books UK

Funny. Short. Quick read.
