JohnnyB here. Sunday was our day off. We mostly geeked in the morning. In the afternoon we hiked down to the Wishon Reservoir. Actually I we only hiked down below the dam to the flooded quarry, below the main reservoir. We took the “PG&E” trail down and the road back up. Stephanie brought her camera, but forgot the memory card, so no pictures. Sorry. There will be pictures of this place soon — I promise. Our gas BBQ let us down again and we had to finish our chicken in the oven. Anyone have a recommendation for a portable gas grill?
On Monday we worked — didn’t you? Yeah, we all gotta work still. But we also woke up at 3AM to see the meteor shower. There is very little light pollution (or atmosphere for that matter) up here at 6000 ft so the view was excellent. We watched from about 3:30 until 5AM until we were chilled. We saw a couple dozen meteors streaking across the sky. One early on (understatement) was huge and left a big fat trail! Stephanie tried to get a long-exposure shot of the sky but that didn’t work out. We also brought Alladin out until he freaked and knocked over the BBQ, clang! Bet the neighbors sleeping 10 feet away loved that!
