Swamp Lake 2

JohnnyB here. Swamp Lake area is pretty typical of the High Sierra. We went for a walk around the campground yesterday. We haven’t actually gone down to the lake, but we probably will tomorrow [Sunday]. As Stephanie mentioned the main challenge here is no cell service. That’s probably not a problem for most of our neighbors here in the campground — they’re here for the off-highway trails and the fishing. However, Stephanie and I are also working most days so a phone is sometimes necessary. At first, we could not get the satellite internet up, but after formulating a theory as to which tree (a ~300ft specimen about 100 ft SSE of our position) was blocking us and moving the RV slightly, it worked fine.

For others in the SC4WDC who will be joining us up here next week, your GPS may show the location by address ~15 miles before you actually arrive at the campground, there are no mosquitoes at all (in our campsite at least, there probably will be lots on the trail), they have WiFi for a fee ($6/day, $16/week), and the little store is as well stocked as a 7-11 would be if run by a fisherman. Of course, there is water, flush toilets, showers, and the RV sites have 20/30/50amp power.
