Redecorating!

I wasn’t happy with the rather, um, dated look of Steggy when we bought it. I mean, there was definite potential, but it was hard to imagine going from a nicely-decorated house with leather sofas and antiques to this:

And so, last weekend, I trucked myself off to Tarjay to pick up a few new decor items….
First, I made a table top for the steering wheel, so Johnny has a place to put his drink and inbox:

Then, it was Slipcover time:

But the biggest offender was the red and green gingham-ish plaid, which was just everywhere….

On the windows

Which I “fixed” to this:

On the bedspread, which is now this:

And on the kitchen chairs, which now look like this:

  1. Hi. Just found your blog through Carnival of Blogs. Now I have some more reading to do! Glad to see you use Podpress as well.

Like you, I’ve got some updates to do in my RV. #1, the dinette cushions have got to go. I’ll be looking for someone to help with that in the near future. Actually, I’d like the dinette to go, and a wrap around computer area instead. One thing at a time though.

Well, I’ll be looking through your blog now. Glad to find more full-time rv blogs out there!

  2. Are you serious that you once had leather sofas and antiques? This new one looks really modern. You made a successful total makeover. Congratulations!!! By the way, are you a certified interior designer? One thing more – I love what you did to your windows. I can’t wait for the next look next month.

  3. Yes, the stick and brick house has leather sofas and antiques. The sofas/antiques were never in a motorhome or anything, just in the land house. Thanks for the kind words about my RV makeover. I’m not an interior designer or anything, just someone trying desperately to declutter everything and make a nice home!

The following weekend, I babysat a friend’s kid and, well, the nice decor might never recover!

The next steps are to replace some lights that are broken and put in new curtains for the windshield, new day/night blinds for all but one of the windows, and a video projector and silver screen for the remaining window (the one across from the couch). But in the meantime, there are all the other things we have to do, like the satellite/internet system, fixing some of our tank issues, and generally fixing a lot of things that are functional, rather than pretty! 😀
