Business Travel

On Monday, I embark on one of my rare business trips. Generally speaking, I need to travel about twice a year for business, though it’s possible that will grow as I work for companies further afield from my home office.

In preparation for this trip, I’ve done a little research on packing and travel. I visited http://www.onebag.com for tips on travelling light, and bought my first really upscale piece of carry-on luggage. I ordered a pair of slacks to take with me on the trip, but they never arrived on time, and I’m not quite sure what I’ll do without the classic pair of black slacks for my trip.

But it’s not all about packing, this business travel thing. When I’m going to be on an airplane and in airports for fourteen hours, I like to be comfortable. That means sweatpants and t-shirts. When you’re travelling for business, though, you have to be prepared to make a good impression. That doesn’t mean I have to break out the eyeliner, but it does mean dressing well for my travel plans, being polite and respectful of others, no matter how irritated I’ve become, and having the same kind of attitude I would have if I were in the office during a fire alarm. I may be annoyed by the inconvenience, but at least I’m getting paid for it.
