Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I am terribly amused by all the snowbound posts on my Friends page today.

It’s really cold here in Ben Lomond today. The low was 51 degrees, and it’s only 66 right now.

And sunny.

I realize that the novelty of the first snow of the season hasn’t worn off yet. When I saw the glint of frost yesterday morning, I was startled, too. Of course, the sun hadn’t actually hit that patch of scraggy grass yet.

Yep. Chilly this morning. I think I’ll take a sweater when I go to dinner tonight.

Movies!

John and I are watching a lot of movies lately. We saw The Departed on Monday afternoon (yay for postal holidays!) It was okay. I’m not a fan of mafia movies– any movie where I’m expected to have a lot of sympathy for really bad people is hard for me to get into. The Sopranos is an exception.

We watched Poseidon (the remake) on Tuesday night, which was entertaining. They really didn’t clutter up the whole “boat flips over and sinks” action with a lot of extraneous story or character development. And it was short, which was good, because we were both pretty tired on Tuesday.

Last night, though, those of you on my Friends List who are Joss-aholics will be pleased to learn that we watched the first three episodes of Firefly. I have to admit: River is annoying and has no humanity to grab hold of. John’s comment was “the whole kidnapped and tortured thing– waaay overdone.” And the show would be nothing without the humor. Nothing– if they don’t bring on the funny every episode, I can see they’re going to lose us. Overall, though, it was good, and we watched all 3 episodes, even though I’d figured we would only stay awake for 2.

Tonight, I have a meeting to attend. We still have V for Vendetta to watch before returning it to the rental place (yes, we rent our movies from a locally-owned store that is not Netflix– they actually know our names there).
