Thank you for sharing. that was a really interesting article.
I couldn’t help but start thinking about collage art and found poems, where you take existing works cut them up and rearrange them into something else, because I do and have done both of these things (though I don’t try to sell my collage art).
There’s so much grey in that, though I think it depends on how different from the original the new piece is.
When I was in college I never Plagised, I just made stuff up. Lying was easier than coping.
The high school I went to now requires that students submit papers to a website (I forget the url) that checks for plagiarism. It still has a few kinks, though. One student submitted a draft of a paper to make sure it was good. Then when he submitted the final paper, it redlined the whole thing as being plagiarized from – himself ;p
It’s probably turnitin.com– best thing to happen to academia since tweed jackets with patches on the sleeves.
