My cat is so adorable sometimes.

He’s spent most of today napping on my extra desk chair. At one point, he was making little nursing motions with his mouth, dreaming.

Cute overload!

What the hell is happening in my little mountain town?

This is a small, unincorporated town.

In the last couple of weeks, we’ve had:
The murder of a very nice, very pregnant young woman who worked at the local independently-owned grocery store– no details yet or suspects named.
The arrest for sexual assault and assault/battery of the grocery store manager, a very friendly guy who was always whistling. His arrest is not related to the murder.
The arson of our local high school’s library– totally destroyed.
Arson in the hills around us.
Our recreation dept. manager quit over “hostile work environment” (another word for personality clash on the board)
A local independent clothing store was broken into, robbed, and is now advertising asking for information

This is why I don’t get a daily paper.

On Plagiarism

This week, my local free weekly has an article on plagiarism.

Ugh.

Something I failed to mention yesterday: I’m sick. I have a head cold, just like everyone else around me. (At least I didn’t get a stomach bug, like everyone who didn’t get a cold– anyone get both? Chime in if you can stay conscious long enough!)

I worked till 11 PM last night. This would seem really late if not for the fact that I had an elections training class from 6 to 9 PM, came home and had dinner, then went back to work to tie things up for my deliverable, which was due yesterday.

So, anyway, I woke up this morning with a completely stuffed-up head. My sister called 4 minutes after my alarm clock went off and left a brief message to call her. So, figuring it was a family emergency, I got out of bed and called her back right away.

She wanted permission to photocopy some pages to give to her student. Apparently, it was more than the number of pages that her district guidelines say counts as educational use.

(sigh)

I’ll bet J. K. Rowling doesn’t have this problem.
