My cheeks are still burning a little.

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Didn’t have weird dreams from all the spicy foods. Had pretty normal dreams (for me).

The cat slept on John’s pillow all night. Again. Except for the 10 minutes where he crawled under the blankets and pummelled my breasts.

I enjoyed Amistad. It was uplifting, despite the rather sad footnote at the ending. It did not make me cry, but it did keep me entertained and occupied and gave my emotions the yank-around they so desperately needed.

I need to buy stamps this morning, I think. Postcard stamps.

And then… it’s off to the store to pick up my Halloween costume supplies!

September 2006: Book Reviews

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

This is an archive of my shorter book reviews and notes, which historically have been posted over at the 50 Book Challenge on LiveJournal, but which I’m starting to move over here. I’m posting them with altered date-stamps, but they might show up in my LiveJournal cross-post anyway. Bear with me, please.

Note: Many of these books also have full reviews available in the book review podcast (RSS).

Me and spicy foods

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Note to self: Spicy foods. Yowza.

It’s llike being poisoned. Actually, it’s exactly like that– spiciness is a toxin, after all.

Yowza wowza owza.

I wonder if it’ll stop burning by the morning….

Tonight

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

I had a glass of tequila.
I made spicy spicy tacos using the organic peppers from the veggie share.
My upper lip caught on FIRE.
I put it out with some milk.
My cat demanded to do tricks for me, so I made him come, sit, stand on his hind legs, and give me kisses. Now he’s having dinner.
I spun yarn and plied it. This is last bit of the turquoise yarn. I ended up with more of one color shade, so I’m plying it on itself.
I’m almost done watching Amistad, which I never saw when it originally came out.

Aside from the feeling of burning in my face, and the slight intestinal discomfort from the tacos, it’s as good an evening I can have without John.

Pennies in my pocket

I sold 2 books yesterday at the STC event. Yay!

And now I need to go take my shower and get into work– I’m late!
