What I took to the Santa Cruz County Fair….

In early August, I sent in my paperwork to enter the county fair. Yesterday, I whipped up some finished samples and took my goodies to the county fair.

I had to create small samples for my county fair entries. On the left is the Aqua Holiday knit sample. In the middle is a card-woven sample of Cheese Omelette. I don’t have one for the white yarn. I’d intended to bring in a basket of complementary yarns, plus an additional skein of black Alpaca, but ran short on time.

Lamb Chop Yarn: spun from coarse Hampshire fiber, from my mom’s favorite pet sheep.

Cheese Omelette Yarn: spun 100% on a drop spindle, then Navajo-plied to maintain the beautiful variegations. Fiber was bought, pre-dyed, from .

Aqua Holiday Yarn: spun on the wheel. I have two large skeins of this, and enough fiber left for a third smaller skein. I’m thinking of knitting an autumn vest with it. I have a silk skirt that would match nicely.
