Santa Cruz game-players

I’m looking for some game-players in Santa Cruz who would be willing to play board, card, and dice games every other week, for a new videoblog.

I’m starting up a biweekly videoblog (also known as a video podcast) reviewing board, card, dice, and “classic” games. Not video, computer, or console games.

I’m interested in finding a varied group of gamers who:
* Are willing to meet up and play a game or two every other week. Tuesdays or Thursday evenings would work best for me. I anticipate each session taking between 1 and 2 hours, and I’d like to have a mix of “regulars” and “guests”.
* Are not camera-shy. You don’t have to be beautiful, but you have to be able to have a camera poking in your face and not get all nervous. Minor nerves are fine. If the thought of giving a public speech sends you to the hospital with a panic attack, you might want to pass.
* Are over 18, or your parent/guardian will attend the first game session with you. I need a signed waiver from the parents of all minors.
* Enjoy board, card, and dice games (not collectible card games)
* Can articulate what you like about a game (we’ll also practice this skill as we go along).
* Are not a member of SAG (unless you can do this without being under a SAG contract).

We might end up taking on personae instead of “being yourself,” depending on how the first couple of episodes turn out, and how we all come across on camera.

This will all be edited into an ipod-ready videoblog/video podcast, of less than 10 minutes length, posted to a videoblog and RSS feed (and put into the iTunes Music Store) every 2 weeks.

I’m also interested in finding someone to help with filming and editing tasks, so if you are into video editing or want to participate in that part of it, let me know. This is a handy role if you’re very camera shy but really want to participate, but I only need 1 or 2 folks to help out with this. We can do a shoot on one day, and a video editing session another day later the same week.

Compensation: Right now, nothing except limited vlogosphere fame, fun playing games, and an introduction to new games. In the future, we might seek game company sponsorship or, if we get review copies of games, we’ll give them to players as we go along. If you’re a Looney Lab Rabbit or member of another game evangelist team, you can certainly mention your participation in the vlog as part of your
evangelism.

Comment here if you’re local and interested in doing this, either as a regular or a guest.
