I found it.

I found my book in the local bookstore today. I put my hands on it. There’s video of me jumping up and down. There’s photographic proof that the book exists.
I now feel like it’s real.
Edit to add: The guy sneaking up on me is , a long-time friend (I’ve known him since I was a freshman in high school, so about, um, 17 years? yikes!), and the minister from my wedding. He and his girlfriend were visiting the Bay Area this weekend because Portland was much hotter than S.F. and Santa Cruz.
It is not unlike him at all to sneak up behind me. Apparently, he had meant to do bunny ears, but his timing was off and he missed the shutter.
