April 2006: Book Reviews

This is an archive of my shorter book reviews and notes, which historically have been posted over at the 50 Book Challenge on LiveJournal, but which I’m starting to move over here. I’m posting them with altered date-stamps, but they might show up in my LiveJournal cross-post anyway. Bear with me, please.

Note: Many of these books also have full reviews available in the book review podcast (RSS).

#8:

The Secret History of the Pink Carnation, by Lauren Willig

An amusing historical adventure/romance novel set in post-Revolutionary France.

#9:

A pleasure to listen to, since it’s read by Winona Ryder. I haven’t read this since I was about 9, so it was a very good book to return to.

I have been working on my own book (writing) the last two months or so, so haven’t had a lot of reading time. Plus my commute is now as long as my walk from the bedroom to my home office, so I no longer have 2 hours a day to listen to audiobooks. However, I am resolute that being a self-employed freelancer should not mean I wind up with even less time for reading than before.
