This is just… weird. I can’t even explain it.

We’ve had an old army blanket around the house for years. Neither of us can remember where it came from: my family? His? Who knows? I suspect it was used for packing up ny furniture when we moved it out here from Missouri.

He just now looked at the tag, which has the date of manufacture: 1951.

He about blew a gasket as he realized that was over 50 years ago, and almost put it behind protective glass.

I reminded him that we use old and antique items every day in our home, from the quilts on our bed to the bed itself (1860’s), and that in so doing we honor the craftsmanship that went into these items.

Just an amusing moment. Reminded me of the Alice Walker story, of course.
