This news post explains the changes. Basically, your URL is now http://username.livejournal.com, and the other URL (http://www.livejournal.com/users/username) is no longer valid. It will, however, redirect to the new URL, so you don’t have to change anything. But you might want to get in the habit of using the new one.

For paid users, this isn’t much of a change, but for free users, it means you have a shorter URL.

Also, apparently, it’s more secure.
