Yesterday in the City

John and I went up to SF yesterday. Had lunch with friends Ken and Jill and Owen (their baby), who are moving to Boston in a couple of weeks, much to our dismay.

Afterwards, we got together with my friend Florence, who is here from New Hampshire and may be moving here soon. She was in town for an interview, and so we went and got ice cream and hung out and I showed her my scrapbook of high school friends. And then, despite it not being a very “I’m in San Francisco” activity, we went to see Harry Potter.

I enjoyed this one much more than the last. Many of the critiques I’ve heard/read of it are quite valid, though I think the dragon scene is not too long. If you saw the first movie, you understand why their wands did that, and really, there has to be some reward for reading the books, all right?

Wrote 2000 words in the car on the way home, which beats the previous day’s 4. Not 4,000. FOUR. *sIgh* I wrote more than that, but in dictation, and the dictation engine crashed on me. Growl. (Friday night was a suckfest only saved by a good dinner, more than a usual amount of alcohol, ice cream, and watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But anyway, I digress. Last night, I had something of a breakthrough in the novel– the characters all finally re-connected with each other.

So, anyway. HP=good. Fun. Writing=good.

Cat=misbehavin’. He’s been tearing around the house all morning and just started to attack some pantyhose I left on my futon. *sigh*
