My super-lame, totally awesome Halloween

OK, I went to a kick-ass party this weekend, complete with the cops breaking the party up. Woot. Seriously: what kind of cop in SANTA CRUZ gives you a ticket the first time they come out on a noise complaint? Before midnight?

We took a cab home, figuring neither of us was really ok to drive. The taxicab driver is moving to Nashville in two weeks to pursue his country singing career. I don’t know how well he’ll do, but he was a lot better singer than the drunkards at the party doing karaoke. Myself included.

He sang, among other country ditties, “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off.” will be amused. It was, after all, the spookiest part of my Halloween.

Yesterday at work, I decided not to wear the flapper dress because my bra shows, and we did JUST have our mandatory sexual harassment training and all. I wore a turquoise silk skirt and white t-shirt and a hair dangly. I wanted to wear my butterfly mask, but I can’t find it.

Anyway, I was still kind of recovering from the sugar and booze fueled festivities yesterday, so I stopped at the grocery store and picked up some things for dinner and this week, some Halloween candy, and ice cream for later. Hey, NaNoWriMo started today– I knew I’d need fuel!

We watched a little TV and John played Civ III. I put on the original version of E.T. and watched it while eating popcorn and Reese’s peanut butter cups. I love that movie. And Reese’s– I love those, too. John was all whiny about watching E.T., but then he said “I guess you want me to turn off my game for the movie.” I of course didn’t care if he played the game or not, as long as he let me watch the movie, and said so. That made for a fun, relaxing evening for both of us, I think.

As expected, we had no trick or treaters. Lazy-assed kids.

At 10, John went to bed and I tucked him in.

At about 10:45, I went back to my office and worked on the computer book and half-watched the #nanowrimo channel on IRC. At midnight, I started writing the novel. I got almost 650 words done before calling it a night at 12:25 AM. My goal for today was 1,000 words, and I’d done more than half of them, so I felt good about that (I feel even better now that I’ve almost tripled my goal for today). Day One of NaNo is always a high word count for me. More details over at .

Oh, and my boss is finally back! Yay! He’s been in another country for a month now, and I’m really glad he’s home.

Loot Bag!

I went trick-or-treating a la LJ Support, and got the following treats:

Goodies received from:
: Rachel’s last name (character for NaNo): Glasser.

: “I rent my friends” in Hungarian: “A barátaim kiadóak” (My friends are for rent) or “Kiadom a barátaimat”

:

: A song of my slogan!

: Alternative Sea Monkey Page and Medieval and Renaissance Games.

: I was going to say ‘you do good work for Support, blah blah answercakes’ and so on, but — you have a Groundhogs Unite icon! LOL. How awesome! :D

: Candy!

:

: You’ve always been one of those people I’ve admired from afar in Support-land because of your smarts. I’m glad you’re around more. :)

: Raffle entry for a postcard, and I WON!

I also got some nifty tricks from you all here. Lots of poetry of varying… erm… quality. Quite a few really great drawings, too! I hope you enjoyed the poem and drawing I sent you– I’ll probably post the drawing in a few weeks, but you get a 2-week “exclusive” on it! :D If you “tricked” me and didn’t get a treat, comment here and let me know!
