Lunch.

Birthday lunch:

1 egg salad sandwich.
1 non-fat mocha with whipped cream
3 brownie bites (they are mini-brownies– one is “just right,” and 3 is “about the same as a big bakery brownie”)

Thanks to for reminding me that it’s okay to splurge on chocolate on my birthday!

Dream from last night:

I was in some kind of daycare type of setting, in a sci fi reality in which we could see into the future and change things. We knew the dates of death of people, and we knew that there weren’t any “brown” people anymore– ethnic cleansing?

Anyway, here are my notes, more awake additions are in italics. The parentheses contain the names of characters related to the note.:

We change kids’ death dates to be earlier than in the record.
Inspired by how their parents will always search for them. (AllMomma) Not sure where this idea came from, but we knew that parents search for missing kids, and that if we could get them to continue to search, they would somehow keep the kids alive or something.

and the fact the future had nobody brown in it (Carlson) Carlson was the guy who realized this discrepancy and wanted to correct it. He once stayed in a burning building to save twenty children– all black or brown. He *cared* about people of any color skin, and this racial/ethnic cleansing was a deeply disturbing revelation to him.

The blind man without electricity in half his house. This was a weird dream segment. We took refuge in an old house where this black guy who was half-blind lived. We tried to get the lights on, but they only worked in half the house– you needed to run a hand-crank generator to get them to work in the other half, and most of the time it wasn’t worth it.

The last one I did was a close friend and I hated it. ->
It was the same day I picked my nose in school and the girl next to me saw and went on and on publicly in class about respecting each other, after she ratted me out to my best (boy?) friend.

The kids should disappear on the “death date” and keep going. To do what?

We went somewhere on a freeway and they stopped us at the middle to let one car go at a time, to “Wood City” as if the road was closed. When we got there, it was a building/maze, and we went in and searched for the children but couldn’t find them. I saw someone outside the emergency exit. After we’ve been wearing the FTL (faster than light) goggles fpr a while, our eyes now see faster than light. Tomorrow we’ll go (Me and one of the others the other children), through the Exit door and see if we can win.

“We should ask AllMomma. She would know.”

Whee!

For those who missed it: I was in the newspaper on Sunday.

Today, I turn 31 years old. I had a cupcake this morning, opened a card from one of my friends, and read birthday emails and comments from a few folks here in LJ-land. Thanks! Tonight, I may go out to dinner with John and be sung to in Italian.

My mom and sister haven’t called yet. Huh.

Last night I had a wild and vivid dream, which I will post about later. I wanted to write it down right away, but the birthday ritual kept getting in the way, and I’m afraid I was less than stellar at my cupcake breakfast.

Oh yeah: and I have to work today. On my birthday. Suck. At least I got to take 10 days off and play!

iPod: Someone needed help?

Sorry, I’m a bonehead– someone on my friends list (?) needed help with playing music in iTunes? Something about “I don’t want it to play one song immediately after the next”?

Here’s the answer: In iTunes, open the Preferences (it’s in the iTunes menu item), and select “Audio”. It has a “Crossfade Playback” option there. Either decheck the option, in which case each song will stop before the next. Or move the slider all the way down to “0 seconds” to get it to play without fading.
