Meanwhile, my cat is being absolutely needy, now that The Big Horrible Child is gone. He has been hiding all week from Austin, coming out only at night and when we’re not home. Silly cat– Austin only wanted to be friends!

I come from a family of writers, particularly journalists. My uncle, Kent MacDougall, was a newspaper reporter for many years before teaching journalism at the University of California Berkeley. We care deeply about our craft, the words we use, and the many wonderful things we keep in our writing toolboxes. Including, of course, the physical tools we use to create our work.
