That’ll get me pretty darn close to my 50 books for the year….
Sunday is “no speaking day” in the Book. Coincidentally, this is also the day I’m reserving for reading Harry Potter (yes, I will avoid spoilering, worry not).
In any case, if you decide to try and call me or speak to me on Sunday, and I speak back (email/type doesn’t count), thwap me one, please. And try not to get me to speak, anyway….
I finally bought a replacement glass pen (in “pistachio,” which is a light green that matches my glass wax sealer and kind of matches the color of a peridot, which is my birthstone) for the one that broke 2 days after I bought it. I used it in my vlog entry last night after practicing a bit in my journal.
I have five colors of ink. Black and red “ordinary” ink (plastic bottles, useful in inkwash drawings), green which came with the pen, silver which I bought with the original pen, and flourescent yellow which I also bought with the original pen. The flourescent yellow, being essentially highlighter ink, is, as would argue, evil incarnate. But it is, after all, flourescent yellow ink for a dip pen, so it may be evil, but at least it’s classy evil.
So, glass pen? Worth it. Definitely. It feels a little fragile in my hand, so I worry that I might break the tip (again), but as far as writing goes, it’s a very smooth feel. When you dip, you have to wipe off (against the ink bottle) a drop of the ink, or it’ll be too thick and bleed on the page, but otherwise, the glass grooves work really well for controlling the inkflow.
As a bonus, cleaning the tip is very easy with a little Windex, and all the ink comes off immediately, so you never have that fountain/calligraphy pen problem of having the previous color bleed into your current one when you change inks.
Thanks, for reminding me to post…
Alladin’s exam, xray, sample– everything came back OK, so it’s probably a case of colitis or just, um, “texture.” Anyway, I have antibiotics for him (cause, you know, if there’s blood, then that means there’s a cut “back there” and could get infected).
He’s acting okay, a little more interested in grooming his rear end, but otherwise he seems fine. John said we probably could have waited for a second instance of blood, but… knowing my luck, that would have happened on Saturday at 4 PM, when the only thing open is the emergency vet.
