Need help!

Ok, as many of you on my friends list know, I am moving this week. John and I have a couple of heavy pieces of furniture and we could really use a volunteer or two. We’ll feed, beer, and hot tub anyone who helps out (spouses welcome if you have a spouse who wouldn’t mind an evening of hanging out with people who are moving house).

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help us move furniture on ONE night this week, between 6 and 8 PM. We aren’t going to abuse anyone by asking them to help move all the furniture in the house; we’re just going one room at a time.

The furniture has to be carried upstairs, usually more than one flight of steps. Nobody with a bad back should even consider volunteering– we don’t want anyone to get hurt! We have a hand truck that helps with some of it, but not all can gracefully go upstairs with a hand truck.

Tonight, we have to move the den. In terms of heavier furniture that has to be moved, that means the leather loveseat, the TV, and a heavy massaging chair which you can sit in after it’s made it upstairs. There’s one flight of stairs involved. And we probably won’t even be moving the furniture until 7:30 or so (move furniture into the truck at 7:30, have dinner, then go over to the house and move out of the truck, then hot tub– suit optional).

Interested? Text me, comment below, or otherwise say “yeah, I can help out tonight!” or “yeah, I can help, but not tonight– tomorrow’s better!” Because we will have furniture to move later this week as well.

Moving

We moved the living room today. It’s the most delicate room in the house, containing a high number of antiques and all of the expensive glassware.

We only broke one thing. Unfortunately, it was an antique that we use to store a lot of the expensive glassware and my musical instruments. Sigh.

We also moved my arts and crafts supplies. John was very nice and puttered around the new house while I put away my arts & crafts and labelled all the shelves so I’d know what goes where. Only problem: I haven’t moved the fabric stash, and there’s no more room! Oh noes!

We’ll burn that bridge when we come to it, I guess.

Also, in moving the arts & crafts,I pulled down the boxes of wool from mom. OK, so she sent me two boxes filled with raw, dirty fleece: one weighed 5 lbs, and the other weighed 7 lbs. The 7 lb. one hasn’t even been opened yet. Of the 5 lb. box, I’ve washed about half of the fleece.

I am, clearly, never going to finish using up that particular fleece. Wow.

Anyway, as our reward for finishing moving one room today, we soaked in the hot tub at the new place, then took our first shower in our new home. HEAVENLY. Shower water pressure is excellent and it got hot right away. Yay! Two shower heads = teh bliss!

I am very sore. My muscles are complaining non-stop. Moving into my office is a bitch. There are 3 flights of stairs for every box. Yuck. Good news: today was the light stuff. Bad news: Still have about 10,000 books (well, okay, not that many) to move. Maybe if I pack one box of books every morning and just slip it in with the rest of the moving boxes for the day, it won’t seem so bad.

Tomorrow, we move the den. That means we’ll be tv-less for a few days. John may expire without American Idol for a week, but I doubt it.

With all these stairs, my ass is gonna firm up in no time.
