House stuff
20-Mar-05
John and I went over there today and shampooed the carpets while the sellers removed many (note: not all!) of their belongings from the outside. We left at 4:00 or so and went to the hardware store to pick up verious things we needed for the new house. We came back at 4:30, dropped everything off. Just as we were leaving, the seller husband came to pick up more stuff. Dare I dream that they might be GONE by tonight? Naah… it would be too much to ask for someone to actually MOVE OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!
Alladin is being very cute and snuggly right now. Also playful. And needy. With claws. *sigh*
I have packed all of my arts and crafts and sewing supplies, except my fabric. My spinning baskets are not in the pile of boxes, because they have to be contained away from Alladin. But otherwise, it’s all packed up.
We went through the house more meticulously today and found a bunch of little fixes we need to do. 2 hours before the locksmith arrived, the key jammed in the lock. *sigh* At least the locksmith was coming anyway.
I am so tired right now. John and I were having an impossible time wrapping our minds around the idea of packing everything, having someone move it all, and then unpacking everything, so we’ve decided instead to rent a truck and move the house one room at a time. Tomorrow, we’ll rent a truck and buy some boxes and move the living room, because that room doesn’t have any super-crucial things we need all the time kinds of stuff.
Did I mention I’m tired? Well, I am. My feet are exhausted– the new house has no furniture, so I’ve been sitting on the stairs when I get tired. We ate our first meal in the new house (leftover Chinese food) on the steps next to the kitchen. When we got home, I was hungry again, and now here it is 6:00, and I’m hungry yet again. Gotta love stress and moving for burning those calories!
