I dreamed I was at a convention (like a tech convention) and I ran into Rudy and Amy Williamson there, just by happenstance. It was a really busy convention, and I had a lot of things to do at it. My cell phone was the only way to keep in touch with me.

While going to and from the convention and my D&D game, I drove through a lot of snow and thought there was a lot of snow for California, and was it possible I was in Tahoe? I couldn’t be sure, and ended up taking a detour and skidding very confidently on the ice. My D&D game, it turned out, was formal, and I was wearing a t-shirt and no bra and felt self-conscious.

Back at the hotel, I went up to my room to read and rest for a bit. I was lying in bed resting when a man came in and put his young son (somewhere in the 5-7 age range) into the bed with me to nap. When I got up and it clicked that there was a guy and a kid in my room, I kind of looked at the guy and remarked that I didn’t rent any extra people with my room. We talked about it (and I wound up naked somehow– changing or something, only I wasn’t self-conscious about it), and agreed that I would talk to the management about this situation, that I wasn’t going to kick them out of my room (yet), since his little kid was fast asleep. And I mentioned that neither of us was going to pay more than $20 for this room, if this was what the hotel had decided to do– they would be lucky if I didn’t sue.

Fortunately, I did not have to dream the confrontation part of this event, so I woke up happy and refreshed. Yay!

Quick weekend update

House purchase continues; we’re signing off on the last contingency tomorrow morning.

I made a really cute purse today using the yarn I spun recently:

It’s some of the yarn that I made from my mom’s sheep’s wool, so it’s a little coarse, which makes it a perfect fiber for a purse or bag.

I also made sourdough bread this evening using Carl’s 1847 sourdough starter. We’ll see how it comes out– the last time I made it, it didn’t do what I thought it should, but that was partly because I didn’t let it rise the second time, and it was a much newer starter. This time, there’s so much dough, I’m making two loaves. My family recipe calls for 2 cups of flour and water, and then you take out 1/4 cup of the sponge to serve as starter for next time. But when I did that last time, the starter looked very small in the jar, so I decided to take out a bit more this time around. So I used 3 cups of water and flour (each) and took out a full cup. Which, I now realize, means I had at least one extra cup of sponge. Oh, well. Two loaves of fresh sourdough bread– the world could be a worse place.

This evening, John and I watched Eurotrip again (it was on HBO), and I spun some more of the yellow roving and then wandered off to practice bass clarinet.

The bread timer just beeped. Yay! Bread!
