Dare you to icy hot!
23-Feb-05
Since I’ve been slathering all sorts of mysterious creams and gels on my body this week, I’ve come in contact with a number of substances that do…. odd things… to one’s skin. I’ve used astringents, witch hazel, pure soap, aloe, “ItchX”, tecnu, calamine, spray benadryl, hydrocortisone cream, epsom salts, and domeboro.
Since the poison oak has spread to my face, I’ve put these on my chin and neck, as well as in the open, weeping rash caused by the poison oak.
For an example of how this feels, let me point you all to this somewhat raunchy video of a young man spreading icy hot onto his face. I can assure you from experience that both ItchX and spray benadryl generate a similar feeling. Hydrocortisone ceram, epsom salts, calamine lotion, and domeboro are all much less painful.
