New bread machine

The new bread machine (West Bend’s Just for Dinner) arrived yesterday. It makes a loaf of bread sized for 2 people. The loaf cuts into 6 slices and two heels, so if desperate, one could share with a third person. Most importantly, it cooks the bread in 45 minutes, so I can start a loaf when I get home and have it ready in time for dinner. I have spent some time last weekend pre-making some mixes so I could quickly prepare a mix when needed. One mix fits inside a sandwich-sized Ziplock.

We had italian herb bread last night with dinner, and raisin cinnamon this morning for breakfast. Best of all, since there’s so little bread left over, I’m not casting around trying to use up the last of the bread.

I’ll be looking for bread machine recipes to modify, and we got a $30 gift card to Barnes & Noble for Christmas that I’m thinking of using on a bread machine recipe book.

Homeday

I’m staying home today. I want to spend his last day with Hammer. I decided this this morning after I’d gotten into the car and realized I was just going to be thinking about him all day long anyway.
