Doctor’s visit

I had my dr.’s appointment today at 11:30. This was a sports medicine doctor who has experience with Team in Training folks and with marathoners in general (yay).

He poked at my feet. The right one is probably a stress fracture. The left looks like plantar facitis (gurk). The plantar facitis might heal in a couple of weeks, with rest. He seemed very concerned about getting me back to exercise quickly– I tried to explain that I was a-ok with not doing anything for a month. I happen to know that athletes can take months off of their training without losing more than 10% of their performance. I’m not in that group of athletes, but I’m confident that resting and healing will not in any way harm my later exercise chances.

He let me use a laser device to help with the pain/healing. Personally, I felt nothing with it, but whatever– he thinks it’ll help.

I got x-rays immediately after leaving his office, and then returned to work. I am to get an MRI on my right foot this Friday, to pinpoint the spot and…. I dunno what then. My next appointment with the dr. is next Monday, so he can go over the x-rays and MRI with me.

I have a terrible headache which I’m treating with ibuprofen, caffeine, tea, and water. I look forward to going home tonight. :P

Who am I online?

I do this periodically, since I don’t use filters to control content on my journal. Instead, I usually create a closed community when there’s something I want to post about regularly but don’t think it will interest the majority of my friends.

I maintain several journals and communities in which I post, sometimes regularly. Here they are:

- A journal for a RPG character for the Support RPG, now inactive. I miss Cass– he was so fucked up.
- for reading-access for friends who don’t want a LJ (so far, completely unused).
- a testing account used to test features of LJ for support purposes.
- My support journal. Friends-only/Private; you’ll never get in to see what I say about Support, reviews, other volunteers, and especially the users. I rarely post there these days. Typically I post there to either log information I need later, or to vent thoughts that are inappropriate and unprofessional.

- An open community which has no purpose whatsoever; proof that LJ Support folks used to get too many invitation codes.
- An open community for dulcimer enthusiasts
- My journal for NaNoWriMo 2003. It’s a community. Join it if you want to see the excerpts.
- Exercise journal (for tracking workouts)
- Music practice log (for logging practice times for a piano class I took)
- My journal for NaNoWriMo 2004. It’s a community. Join it if you want to see the excerpts starting Nov. 1. Meanwhile, check it out to see if the story interests you.
- Now-inactive poem-a-week challenge community.
- My journal for NaNoWriMo 2002. It’s a community; Join it to see excerpts.
- RSS feed for my AllConsuming.net feed (just a list of books I’m reading or recently bought)
- RSS Feed for my plog, which contains my book reviews.

Also, how about all the websites where I maintain content?

Fantasy World-Builders Guide
Rowena Silvareth - a D&D character– bard/cleric with a sense of humor
Lyon - a D&D character– bladesinger with little sense of humor. Played her for 4 years. Yes, you will read this and think “Oh, my god, she spends too much time on her characters,” but really all the stories and vignettes were writing exercises for myself, more than anything else. I also used her heavily as my theme in art class.
Cori - Lyon’s sister and my secondary character for that campaign. Cute, amusing little bardic elf.

Web design site - from when I did web design for a living.
Writing site - Kind of my online business card for freelance writing.
Personal website - contains all sorts of random bits and pieces of writing I’ve done and things I think are fun.
Photo album - hasn’t been updated in forever.
Mortaine.com - I change this periodically– right now it has my Team in Training stuff on it.

My username nearly everywhere (UFie, Gmail, Friendster, Orkut, NaNoWriMo, etc.) is mortaine. I made up my username during a co-ed naked role-playing game in a hot tub. Originally, Mortaine was a light-saber-weilding girl from an alternate future who had a great interest in history and was deathly afraid of viruses. If you search for Mortaine in the Usenet archives, you will find some very embarassing posts by me in many many many many Usenet groups. Please ignore these– I was young and foolish then. I’m old and foolish now.

A previous username I’ve had is Solwyn, which I used in the Mud That Ate My Semester. Also, scottrell was a username I was assigned in college (first initial, last name), which is why my domain is still scottrell.com (I keep hoping my dad, whose first name is Stuart, will be interested in buying it off of me….). I may someday publish under the pen name “Scott Rell” and make that domain name useful.
