Pain, ouch
07-Oct-04
I mentioned briefly that I’m in pain.
Yeah. My feet hurt from Sunday. My right foot hurt going into the race, but it’s kind of quieted down (it just aches a little now) in the last couple of days.
My left foot was fine going into the race, but by the end, was agony. I thought it was just a blistery, overuse kind of pain. But here we are, four days later, and it still hurts to walk on it. And I don’t just mean it aches. I mean it HURTS to walk on it– every step is an agony.
Now, I have a really high pain tolerance. I don’t like pain and will avoid it, but I can “take it” quite a bit. So if something hurts enough to make me shake and feel nauseated, it’s probably really seriously hurt.
Today, I made an appointment to see a sports medicine doctor on Monday.
Oh, yeah– and excruciating pain is almost the only symptom, I might add. Not much swelling (though quite a bit in the right foot), and only minimal bruising in the right foot, generally where I taped it up on Sunday before the race (I taped it to provide support and compression– it seems to have helped some, at least).
This is all made Not Much Better by the fact that I tend to rest my feet on the legs of my office chair, which puts pressure on the injured parts of my foot. Gah. Oh, and the fact that I refuse to take the really strong painkillers cause they’re for my migraines, not random foot injuries (though I took one Sunday night so I could walk without screaming).
