Finished the swimsuit

I fought the sewing machine all the way through, but I finished the Geekini.

The Sprawl

“The Sprawl” was rejected from Brain, Child.

Sigh. Next.

More progress

Don’t know if it was progress or just activity today.

I ran for 4 1/2 miles this morning.God, that felt terrific. I had to take yesterday as a rest day due to schedule, so I’ll be working out every day this week till Thursday again. Whew.

Spent some quality time on IRC with the #lj_support crowd, who were all very polite and sweet. Errr….mostly polite. If you don’t consider discussion of “felching” to be rude, they were all polite. Yes, there was some squick factor, but no meanness.

I filed all the emails in my inbox. so there are only 30 emails there right now, with about 1/2 of those flagged for follow-up.

I wrote 2100 words in the novel today. I know there are probably people dying to read it. To be honest, this is one piece that I don’t feel is ready to share with anyone yet. And I’m usually so fucking proud, I’ll show my stuff to anyone.

I’m listening to Bond, a cd that lent me to listen to. Nifty. Modernized classical music. With synthesizers. Not bad. But then, I like the Excalibur and Ladyhawke movie soundtracks.

I also wrote a couple of book reviews and posted them to my plog, which is also syndicated here on LJ as . I also trackback to Allconsuming.net, where I keep track of my current reading list and to-read list (, yes can you tell I have too many RSS points?)

John’s dad, who some of you will recall had an MI a couple of weeks ago, has decided to come out here and go on the Rubicon with John next weekend. *worry* He will be here Wednesday night. I will be cleaning house between now and then.

Oh, happy news: I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow. Joyful!

I gave this link to the folks on IRC earlier today, but thought I’d share here, too. If you are a fish eater, go here to learn about the environmental damage caused by overfishing, and what you can do to encourage better commercial fishing practices. Essentially, if you follow the guidelines provided, you’ll be eating fish that are caught using the most environmentally responsible methods, methods which have the lowest impact on the fish population and on non-commercial fish populations (all those thousands of pounds of fish that are accidentally caught in nets, for example, and then dumped, now dead, right back into the sea).

Unfortunately, I like very few fish, and those that I like are not on the “Best Choices” list. Sigh. To be truly responsible, I would have to give up most of my favorites, like swordfish, or at least any swordfish that isn’t from the Pacific. Am I willing to do that? Yep. Why? I mean, it’s not like one person’s dietary choices will make a big difference. I don’t even eat that much swordfish– maybe once or twice every 2 months. Someone else will eat that swordfish, right? Sure. But if you don’t understand why I’d give up swordfish in response to irresponsible fishing practices, then you probably don’t understand why I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart, why I drive a hybrid car, why I’ll never eat at McDonald’s again, and why I would bother having a one-woman boycott against The Passion.

In other words, if you don’t understand that, then you really don’t understand me at all.
