I didn’t do the second dive yesterday– I did the one in the morning, but was having some wheezing, so decided to opt out of the second dive. I’m not sorry about that– I probably would have been fine, but the ocean will still be there tomorrow.
Here are some pictures from the dive, courtesy of our instructor. Nice stuff– underwater photography is beautiful.
Anyway, my whole body is sore and achy today. I ate too much this weekend, although I did a lot of physical activity. But I still ate too much. Especially last night. Oog.
Edit: I posted a more complete write-up here in the community.
Went SCUBA diving today for first time in the ocean. Wow. Very tired. Have a party tonight; Brian turned 30 this month and is having his party tonight. Much fun to be had. We’re bringing a half flat of fresh strawberries from a fruit stand in Moss Landing– yum!
Did I mention that I’m tired? I am. I also have a huge bruise on my ankle from the dog (Hammer landed on me yesterday while not making it into the car).
Hammer is eating 3 cans of wet dog food a day now, to bring his weight back up.
Um, that’s it. You know how when you spend a long time in the water, you kind of start swaying a lot because your body is used to the waves? Yeah– my body’s doing that right now. I wouldn’t trust me to drive. ![]()
Wow. I’ve posted a lot of memes this week. Sorry about that, everyone. I know how boring Yet Another Meme can be.
Anyway, I guess I’ve just been light on content this week. Things I’ve been thinking about:
Working out/running. Specifically, gearing up for the TNT training, and scheduling that in with the rest of my life. I basically have a list of projects and time commitments I’m working on between now and Fall, and it’s a pretty big list.
Work, 40 hours/week and commute 2 hrs/day.
TNT training - ~10 hours/week
SCUBA - 4-8 hours, once or twice a month after May.
LiveJournal - I’m trying to cut down to 1 hour of LJ per day. It’s not working very well.
Reading - I’m trying to read more. I’m doing this largely by listening to audible.com books right now.
Writing - Trying to write an hour a day on average.
STC - Starting in June, I’ll be serving in the STC as an officer, which is a time commitment of at least 3 hours a week, often more.
Housework/FLYing - I’m just not right now.
So, I’ve been thinking about time commitments lately. I’ve also been managing the dog’s commute, which cuts into my own. Sigh. It’s a pain. Last night, we resumed training, and he did okay. It wasn’t a phenomenal training session; we went back to just turning his left and getting click-treat for doing so, not trying to associate the verbal command in any way.
This morning, his stitches came out. His weight is down below 70 lbs. This is a dog who used to top out at 100 lbs. For his own health, he really needs to be around 85 lbs. I’m going to increase his food– probably almost double it for a while. I don’t want him to get fat, but he clearly needs to gain weight, and fast. He also needs to recover his strength, particularly in his back legs. The diarrhea continues as well– probably a major cause of his weight loss.
And there I am rambling about my dog again. If it’s not memes, it’s my dog.
Writing is going okay. I convinced and to come write with me on Tuesday at lunch. We have to do that more often, for sure. I wrote 2 pages that day at lunch, which was good. I don’t think this new novel is exactly shaping up, but I suspect I’m getting the crap out of my system right now, which is an equally valid exercise.
I fear going back to editing Eye. Worth it, definitely. I should set myself a deadline for finishing editing and just go for it. Maybe I’ll do another NaNoEdMo instead of another novel this November.
Anyway, it’s 12:30, which means I should hit the gym before lunch. This weekend is going to be physically challenging as it is, so I want to get my run in before the SCUBA’ing starts. ![]()
