Hammer doesn’t eat dog food anymore. He’s lost a bunch of weight and is downright skinny. Also, his muscles are atrophying with the enforced inactivity.
But yesterday, we found out that he likes hamburgers. OK, it wasn’t like it was a big secret. Anyway, he had a burger for lunch. For dinner, I went out and bought him two Burger King hamburgers with nothing on them. I hand-fed him one, to get him all excited (he did). I then used the buns to scoop up his wet dog food and feed it to him. He was all over that– it smelled like hamburger and had both burger bun and meat involved. The finale was the second hamburger.
This morning he ate an english muffin with dog food spread on it. He tried to be sneaky and each just the bread part, but I was persistent about him eating the dog food, too.
Yeah, I realize hamburgers and english muffins are an unrealistic thing to feed him all the time. But for right now, I have absolutely no problem with feeding him whatever he is willing to eat. It’s got to be uncomfortable to eat with the swelling in his neck, and his metabolism all but stopped for a few days post-op while he recovered. I think he’s doing a whole lot better right now, and every bite he takes fills me with hope. Especially when he looks as interested and excited about any food as he was about the hamburgers last night.
The keycaps for my keyboard arrived today. Finally. Unfortunately, the N key was defective. I don’t have the patience to deal with Adesso right now, so I rearranged the keys. I now have the

Seriously. I don’t. I had my annual review yesterday, which went better than I thought it would, and I’m glad and more confident today as a result.
I packed my lunch today. I almost never do that.
The windshield on Kirei is still busted– the guy came out to fix it yesterday but the one he brought with him was broken, too, so he’s returning on Wednesday to fix it for real.
I’m going to workout today. Probably at about 11:00. I want to get some water into my system before I do, though. It’s 10:30 and I’ve had a glass of OJ and that’s it for fluids today. I’m starting to think I don’t really drink as much water as I think I do.
My poll regarding the keyboardx is a dead tie right now. However, the cheese portion of the poll is very strongly in favor. I think a nice gouda could run for president this year and win, if you folks are any indication.
Oh, I created a couple of new userpics, including the one that I’m using as my default today.
I discovered that exercise makes me more susceptible to sex. Am upping my workouts to 6 times a week….
My sister’s wedding reception is Memorial Day. John and I are discussing whether we can afford for me to go (the dog’s surgery was $2,000, plus $300 the week before for ultrasound, and $500 the week before that for the emergency visit, and $200 this weekend for his follow-up from the complications– $3000 that we didn’t have to spare).
