Dog, Vegetables, Computer Keyboards and a POLL!

Most of yesterday was spent goofing off on the computer and watching TV. It really was a lazy Saturday for a change. During my run, my ankle started bothering me, so we walked the rest of the way, which was too bad. Today I’m going to try again, in about a half hour (after the water I just drank is no longer sitting in my stomach like a bowl of water).

Hammer’s doing okay. His neck is still livid red, and he’s very lethargic. I am trying not to give him a new nickname (Hammer the Redneck dog….), but clearly it’s not working very well. The swelling is down and it goes down when we put ice on it, and he seems to be in less pain now that we’ve switched drugs. Didn’t eat yesterday, though, and hasn’t eaten today yet. I worry about the not eating. A dog can go a few days without food, but at this point, he’s had about 2 cans of food since Tuesday afternoon. He’s lost a lot of weight. Worryworryworry.

I do want to give a shout out to my fellow pet-moms, and in particular, who have both had pet worries of their own this weekend. I hope your babies recover soon. I believe that our darlings time their complications for holiday weekends, don’t you?

We had organic beets in our veggie delivery this week, but John, for once, didn’t know how to cook something and didn’t do it right. I ended up not having beets cause he turned them into beet chips. Whoops. We have more beets, though, so I’ll try again tonight. I also gave some of our veggies to and ; I hope they managed to pick them up before leaving for the weekend. We had more kale (could be chard? I think it’s kale, though), and spring garlic and beets than we reasonably could use, so I foisted some off on them. Hopefully, they won’t complain too much if I do that every week with the veggies we know we won’t eat a lot of.

John is doing taxes and laundry today. Poor guy. Maybe I’ll take the dog beds down to wash for him when I go for my run.

Oh, and I’ve decided to buy a keyboard from Fingerworks. My dilemma is whether I should get the TouchStream ($339) or the Mac N Touch ($259). The advantage of the Touchstream is that I could use it at work once we migrate my machine to WinXP (I refuse to refer to it as an “upgrade”). The disadvantage is that I’d have to carry it around to use it on my various machines (the work computer and my Powerbook would be the two machines in question), and there’s the cord to deal with. The advantage of the Mac N Touch is that it would be there in my laptop at all times, without having to switch around. It’s also cheaper, of course. The disadvantage is that I wouldn’t be able to use it at work on my work documents. I am also a little concerned because my primary discomfort with the keyboard on Trinity right now is that it’s not curved, which is uncomfortable on my wrists. The Mac N Touch is slightly curved, though the keyboard itself is not shaped or slanted (my laptop is always slanted, though, because I put it on a stand to help cool it).

The keyboard at work now has three broken keys. Piece of crap.

So, poll time.
