The software developer got back to me this morning. He’s able to open the file, and everything is still there (including things I thought were lost anyway). He told me how to fix it on my computer, which I will do tonight.

Thanks for the well wishes. I really hope I can get back on an even keel soon. My panic button is wearing out.

Yesterday got worse when the file containing my 66,000 word novel got hosed. I’ve been writing it on beta software, and when I went to re-open the novel, it was gone.

I’ve sent it to the developer for help, but…. yeah. My last backup is from March 19th.

I am so screwed. Though I suppose this would make the “delete it and type it back in” method of revision mandatory.
