Rejection from Tin House

Tin House rejected “Space.” I got the letter today.

Time to print out a new copy and send it out again.

Wow (sleep, exercise, and writing)

John and I slept for 11 hours last night. We went to bed at about 7:30 and got up at 6:30 this morning. John’s shoulders are feeling much better. My whole body is sore and achy, but in that “you pushed yourself yesterday” kind of way, not in any kind of injury way. Oh, and the sunburn sucks. It’s better today than it was yesterday, but it hurts to wash my hands in hot water, for example. At least it’s not blistered and weeping.

I’m giving myself today as a rest day, and am going back to “training mode” tomorrow. That’s training for the 5K in October, as well as just general training to get my body to something resembling “healthy.” This means back to my walking/running schedule in the gym three times a week (, tag me when you’re going so I can join you), and adding strength training (because those tanks are frickin’ heavy!)

I got a crit done for OWWW today. Yay. I have two other chapters that I’m critting this month for the workshop, both for the same person’s book. Focusing on writing has been good for me this past month or two; I think it’s helped me remember that I am a writer before I’m a LiveJournal Support volunteer, before I’m a volunteer for anything, really, before I’m an Angel viewer, before I’m a musician, before even being a gamer. I’m enjoying the obsession.

I should really thank and the srpg group for some of that; the fic I wrote of Cass and Kippen made me remember how satisfying it is to finish a story, to reach “the end” and then to fix everything that was wrong about it until it’s the best piece you can possibly have written this time around. NaNoWriMo was helpful in getting me writing long fiction, but I remember finishing that piece while I was on the airplane to Seattle and thinking “Wow; that’s really the best I could ever do” and just feeling great about it.
