On March 9th, the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors approved three measures in support of gay marriage, including joining San Francisco’s lawsuit to defend its legality, opposing the proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, and a third to ask the county clerk to issue licenses for gay marriages (which he won’t do, but maybe a new county clerk will be more willing).
I sure hope they start issuing licenses to gay couples. Our county could use the income!
Today, we had our first pool session (of two– they’re two double sessions in the pool). John and I are so tired and sore, we’re ready to go to bed… and it’s only 7:15! John really hurt his shoulders today; I’m hoping a night of rest will help. We both got sunburned. SCUBA is very challenging physically, but it’s do-able. I feel like, with more practice, I’ll do all right. I screwed up a few times today, but there were a few points when I was about to panic, but I stayed calm and didn’t, which is good. Still, I do need to make myself more comfortable in the water to really feel good about it. But overall, it went okay.
Edit to add: ’s post reminded me: during the first half of our session, the lifeguard came by to ask if anyone had brought their “pet” to the pool– a little red ferret was running around the pool area (not in the water), free and loose and hyper as ferrets are wont to be. I don’t know if they ever found the poor little guy’s owner, but ferrets are illicit in CA, and there are no wild ferrets out here, so it has to belong to somebody.
Hammer did fine today, rested up real good with my good friend Brian all day (Brian came over to dog-sit). And did more click-treating today. I think tomorrow, we will start the actual “training” of a target action (”Turn your head”). Suggestions for a single-word (preferably single-syllable) command to use for that are welcome.
