Sniff

My right pinky finger hurts, inexplicably. Perhaps holding the straps for the ab machine? Burgeoning RSI? Whatever– it HURTS!

I found (LJ Valentine swap) today. Several of my friends are mentioned– what a sweet love-fest, compared to the rantiness engendered by ’s post. Aww!

Am so very tempted to make popcorn in the cafeteria, even though it would be the death of my career as a full-time staff technical writer (uh, the uberboss is like Gerry from Real Genius– hates popcorn).

Um. OK: a challenge. Write a haiku (or a hateku, if you prefer) about topics mentioned any one of the above paragraphs.

Ouch, small digit cries!
It hurts to bend or press it.
Can I cut it off?

LJ Valentines,
Secret loves, admiration.
Can I find my name?

I could lose my job
if I enrage the Founder.
Who could hate popcorn?

Flying without a dictionary, random stuff, DunDraCon

So, for a couple of days, I’ve provided the French translation to UserFriendly. I’ve been doing this at work, without access to a paper dictionary/conjugation list. I’m not great at it, but it’s a good way to keep my brain from losing all of the French I learned in elementary, junior high school, high school, and college (sigh).

I should make a goal to read two books in French this year, just to keep my brain from turning to mush.

And I know is so gonna giggle if she goes over to the comic strip and reads my translations! Just remember, hon– I bow to your French-leetness. ;)
I brought my lunch today– salad and snacks. Yum, but very very very low in points. So I’m going to have a beer tonight with dinner to, uh, balance it out (beer’s a vegetable, right?). :)
I got in at 8:45 this morning. That’s good; a more “normal” time to arrive, I hope. I’m slowly but surely getting in the habit of arriving earlier and earlier here at work. Winter is always so hard to work a full day; when it’s dark out, it’s hard to think about being at work.

Working out with today (in about half an hour).

I moved my big to-do list to the top of my journal and backdated it, so I’ll remember to look at it periodically. So if you go to my journal and see this big weird post, just ignore it; it’s for my own knowledge.

I’m going to have to skip Coffee Society this Thursday and go home to pack and prep for the weekend. In addition to my clothes, I’ve got to pack the game books and materials, plus I need to finish writing the Dragon adventure, and start writing the OG adventure. And I might get The Draconomicon to facilitate that. I don’t know– it’s a 3.5 manual, and my gamers are at 3.0 only at this point, and we’re not going to upgrade just yet. Sigh. I also have to create characters for both games.

I feel slightly gypped because there’s an OG/StuperPowers adventure and at least one DragonPCs adventure already scheduled for the con. Oh, well– at least my adventures will be original. I have Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday evening free to find games to play in. I’m thinking about only playing 1 or 2 games, though; maybe a Friday night thing and a Saturday afternoon with an early end. Both of my games start at bitch o’clock in the mornings (8), and I want to be well-rested. I kind of wish there were a Dinosaur Planet (d20) game going on this weekend; I’d love to play in one for a change. Alas, everything is “uber-powerful D&D 3.0″ or “World of Darkness” games, it seems. There are a few CoC (Call of Cthulhu) games on, but of course they’re very late at night, and did I mention the whole thing of having to run games at bitch-o-clock already? Yeah.

BTW: Last year’s OG adventure involved the cavemen rescuing a cave-baby from (in sequence): a sloth, a sabretoothed tiger, and a woolly mammoth. Truly, it was great fun.

Getting Shit Done

I called all my elections clerks tonight. Left messages for 2; one has called back.

I finally finished filling in a notebook for . Whew. I have no idea why it took me so long– mental block, I guess. I’m going to leave that community when I’ve sent the notebook.

Since I finished a cross-stitch project last night, I need to put together another one today. I can’t decide what to work on, though. I think I’ll dig out an unfinished piece and go to work on it. But– eep! I think my only unfinished pieces right now are the cardinals for Renee (lots of half- and quarter- stitches) and the Teresa Wentzler piece (on 20-count fabric, with lots of blended colors). Hmmm. If I do the cardinals, I’ll finish by the end of my 100-day challenge, and can give it to Renee for Christmas. If I do the Wentzler piece, I can have it partly done by, uh, Christmas?

Decisions, decisions….
