it’s a very demanding job. looking after the whole universe. sitting up 24/7 listening to prayers. “dear god, please give laura a zit because she called me a ho today”. it’s sort of like being on the abuse team to a site with 6 billion users.

I changed my mind. I don’t want to be God anymore.
I consider it colossally unfair for my dreams to pick last night, when John is out camping, to give me hot, steamy, sex dreams that are in no way scary, just hot.
Dammit.
I have to tell you all about last night’s Instant Karmic Retribution.
I went to the San Jose User Friendly gathering to meet Illiad and his wife, and to meet other UFies. John joined me as well, which was wonderful.
Anyway, after the dinner (and after I sobered up from my 2 whiskeys), we were all standing outside the restaurant chatting for a few minutes, and all of a sudden, I felt someone grab my head and pull my hat off my head. I reached up and grabbed my hat back– it’s a nice hat, and I didn’t know what the fuck someone was doing, if I was being attacked or just screwed with, whether it was someone I knew, etc…
I turned, and there was this very pretty but very drunk bitch leaning over “Don’t get all– be that way–” she kind of slurred at me. I realized that she wasn’t intending to scare me, and I was going to just drop the whole thing, muttering that the hat was expensive and I don’t appreciate that kind of thing.
The woman stumbled forward a few more steps, and then I don’t know what happened, but she ran into a newspaper vending box and fell on the sidewalk, and slid into the gutter, smacking into a taxicab that was waiting at the curb.
Everyone just burst into laughter. I kind of laughed a bit, but I didn’t really find it funny. The woman had a less-drunk companion, who helped her up and got her to a nearby bench to sit and stabilize a bit.
But yes, we all found the cosmic retribution to be remarkably swift in this case. Truly, truly a special moment in my week.
I finished the tea towel I’ve been working on!
