Yeah, it’s a bit of a guessing game, but some of these things have been mentioned before. What’s interesting is that knows me in meatspace, but not especially well, I don’t think. Lucky guesser?
Which of the following medical conditions have I not had:
tonsillitis - Had it a few times, most notably while on vacation in Florida, I think. Oh, yes, being ill on family vacations is like a favorite past-time of mine.
myopia - also known as near-sightedness. Many don’t know this to look at me, but I wear contact lenses and am so near-sighted, I can’t focus on an entire page of a paperback novel without glasses– I have to move the novel around to get enough of it in my vision.
endometriosis - while I’ve suffered many symptoms of these types of “women’s troubles,” medical exams have not shown any evidence of this particular ailment. How would you know? Well, I’ve actually mentioned this on IRC in #lj_support in some of the TMI discussions.
warts - Compound W was my friend when I was a child. I grew out of warts when I was a teenager.
a broken leg - falling down the stairs at 6 months of age, folks. With my dad during a midnight feeding. Stairs hate me.
My most effective physical sense is:
Taste - I’m no gourmand. I like food, but I don’t distinguish very well.
Touch - I can tell where someone is poking my back, within less than a centimeter.
Sight - See myopia, above.
Sound - Eh?
Smell - I can clean up vomit without gagging.
Which of the following movies is my favorite?
[I actually chose a few movies I don't really like to put in here, to make it easier...]
La Femme Nikita (the original French) - I enjoyed this movie, but anyone who knows me knows that I really detest movies where the main character is a bad person.
Singles - Cute, but not worth watching a second time. Also, Bridgette Fonda and Renee Russo don’t really wow me.
Fatal Attraction - We walked out of the movie theatre partway through.
Night of the Comet - I can watch this movie over and over and over….
MASH - OK, I love it, but I must confess to being much more addicted to the TV series.
What was my first paying job?
Renaissance Faire worker - This was tricky; I worked RenFaire the summer after I turned 16, but I got my first job just days after my 16th birthday as a:
Hardware store clerk - Cawley’s True Value hardware hired me, I think on or the day after my 16th birthday. Our family shopped there for decades.
Amusement Park ride operator - Not until 1993, when I moved to Santa Cruz, did I encounter this role.
Campground worker - I figured some might think this was it, since my mom owns a campground. But: a) she bought it when I was 18, long after I’d had a paying job, and b) I’ve never been paid for working there.
Gopher at a radio station - I’ve never worked at a radio station. But wouldn’t that be COOL?
How many jobs have I had that included benefits? 0-10
1 - My current job is the first time I have had health insurance benefits through an employer. There was a full time, W2 job I had previously that should have given benefits, but they never came through, claiming it wasn’t a priority for them as a startup.
