Calling all Dreamers

needs volunteers for some dream research.

Go here if you’re interested in keeping a dream journal for a week, and don’t mind participating in the behavior pattern she’s requesting of her subjects. Whether you are a frequent dreamer (or rememberer) or a seldom one, it doesn’t seem to matter much.

Wanted: Short poems and sayings

I’m working on my Calligraphy this month, as I do every December (out of necessity– December is Gift-tag Month).

I was thinking I’d like to do some more creative pieces– more than gift tags and certificate names.

Does anyone have some favorite sayings or short poems, or perhaps some collected short bits of wisdom somewhere that I could steal borrow for creative purposes? I’m not really aiming for any kind of public display or promotion, here– I just want to have appropriate things to practice with.

Post in comments, plsthx. :)

Dreams

I dreamed about alarm clocks last night.

Big surprise. It meant last night wasn’t a very good test of the alarm clock’s ability to wake me up, since I was up or awake about 4 times during the night.

It’s freezing cold here this morning (by which, I mean it’s 40 degrees outside).

Last night I edited “Baggage,” this short story I’ve been working on about a woman picking up her mother’s coffin at the airport. I got a rough draft done on Thursday, and want to edit it and send it out this month.

I have about 90% of my holiday shopping done. I need to get more wrapping paper, though– three rolls was not enough for the kids on my list.

All adults on my list are getting gift certificates this year to various places they will enjoy. What’s cool is that, with very few exceptions, all the gift certificates are being bought in CA, which means they cannot expire, even if I mail them to my loved ones elsewhere (snicker snicker). For example, GameSpot wants to charge $2.00 a year for keeping their gift card open; in California, that’s illegal, so their “fine print” has to say “except when purchased in California.”

I bought a new set of calligraphy pens last night. I now have 5 pens and 6 nibs, and an array of colored inks to choose from. I used them, liberally, when doing the cards for the gift cards/certificates. They look really spiffy, too! And I only messed up one certificate, but I’m hoping nobody will notice… Oh, and I have purple ink in a calligraphy pen– it’s soooo preeettyy!

OK, got to sign off now– the dog needs to be fed and we’ve got to have breakfast when John gets out of the shower. Have a good day, everyone!
