Alarm Clock saga, pt. II
07-Dec-03
I bought a new alarm clock today.
I had to buy one this weekend– my snooze button is now complete gone on my old clock– it’s not usable at all anymore (*sob*).
I actually bought a new alarm clock yesterday, too– it had a CD player, radio, and dual alarm clocks, and the alarm was obnoxious enough to be usable.
Then I got it home, plugged it in, tried it out.
And realized that some idiot had designed it so that you could only have it set to either play the radio OR play the CD OR sound the alarm. In other words, if you wanted to fall asleep to a CD and wake up to a klaxon, you were SOL.
I resolved last night to return it to Sears– no way is that going to work.
So I stopped at Walgreens on the way to check out their alarm clocks (making that the 5th or 6th store I’ve stopped at to look for alarm clocks). I finally found one– a GE alarm clock/CD player/radio with dual alarms, the ability to set them to alarm, radio, or CD, and to play a CD or radio while falling asleep. FINALLY! Oh, and the alarm starts quiet and gets louder and louder, until it is really obnoxious. I think I’ll be able to live with it.
Oh, and it has an automatic Weekend Shutoff– the alarm won’t sound on Saturday or Sunday.
I also bought 3 nature-sounds CDs yesterday to play in the CD player portion at night and in the morning. So now we have one alarm set for 7:00 AM with the klaxon, and the other alarm set for 6:45 with frogs and lillypads, so John can wake up gently and get up before me.
Anyway, I’m glad I found a replacement for my alarm clock. Think positive thoughts about my alarm clock– I really want this one to work out.
