Hmph. Sick.

I stayed home sick today– the stomachache I started getting yesterday afternoon did not go away overnight, and I decided it would be better to stay at home and try to, um, relieve the pressure without any social constraints, than to go to work and be unable to concentrate on anything.

And then I accidentally stood up my friend, Inga, because I thought we were getting together at 4. I feel so bad about it, too– she got there at 3, and was waiting and waiting, and she’s so nice to me. *sob* I’m such a terrible friend sometimes!

The Clie went kaput last night, and while restoring from backup today, I discovered that there’s a file that, when restoring, causes the Clie to crash, and become unrecoverable. Whee, fun. So, I need to find out where the backup data is stored on Mac OS X, so I can delete that one file from the restore list and hopefully get my Clie back in order.

Mailed out a couple of packages today. Packing up another one to go out to tomorrow. :)
Eh, I think that’s about all. I really want my stomach to feel better by tomorrow. I don’t have time to be sick.

Oh! I figured out what to go as for Halloween– a nurse at Arkham Asylum. I bought a nurse hat and white tights today– now all I need is the white blouse and skirt, and I’ll be set.

Fantastically bored

This would have been a good day to bring something resembling work to the office.

Boredboredboredboredbored.

I will be rearranging my friends page/reading lists this week. Nothing personal– NaNoWriMo sucks a lot of my time, and I may need to use some filters to manage it. Things will return to what passes for normal in January (there is nothing normal about December).

Deliverance continues to haunt me, today.

I want to go home. And, like, drink a martini.

My neck

I have visibly lost weight in my neck.

This is a good thing. It’s the last place I typically gain, and the first place I typically lose.

Also, this morning when I got on the scale, I think I was down about a pound. We’ll see how I do on Thursday’s weigh-in.

Normally I would post this to , but I’m looking for a little bit of cheerleading here.

[Edit: I am eagerly awaiting the day I can take off my wedding ring again. Not that I need to take it off very often, but I'd like to not wear it when handling caustic chemicals.]

Movie

John and I watched Deliverance last night. Good movie. I think John did not enjoy it as much as I did.

Had dreams about Appalachian mountain men kidnapping talented young kids to be… I don’t know. Raised to be powerful wizards or something horrid. What I remember, though, is that some of the kids drowned while being kidnapped– and it wasn’t exactly an accident. When I (as an adolescent boy) told the kidnapper that I kind of figured he’d killed some of them, and said, kind of matter-of-factly, that it was probably an issue of resource management, he seemed almost relieved and a little a scared that someone so young would be so blase about it.

On the upside, this morning I mentioned a particular Simpsons episode which has a Delivrance reference in it. John’s comment was that that made the whole movie much more improved, since it deepened his understanding of the Simpsons.

Yesterday’s game went well, largely because I decided to throw out the encounter as it was written and to take a different tactic. Basically, they’ve spent a lot of time leaving and coming back to this dungeon– the insane goblin wizard would not be sitting there by himself– he’d have gathered whatever remaining goblin reinforcements are left and would have laid as careful an ambush as possible.

So, that’s what happened. It made for one of the most creative battles they’ve run into yet, with tons of cover for the goblins, a nasty little spellcasting goblin, and a whole lotta fun. Plus, their NPC fighter heroically went down to 0 hit points, and was saved by the light of his life, the paladin of Pelor.

Next game, they (hopefully) delve into the third level of the abandoned mine, to reveal the darkness below!

And one of my players decided to join NaNoWriMo this year. Yay!

Falling Back

Remember when “falling back” meant to lie down for sex? [Rom.&Jul.]

OK, had a nice leisurely sleep last night, waking up at 7:20 this morning. Yay
for extra hours. I wish we could get them more often.

Unfortunately, 7:20 meant it was too light and warm out already to go for the
walk or run I’d been contemplating. So, I will do treadmill instead. May go
geocaching this morning– have to call C&A at 8 to see if they’d like to go.

Still need to finish the jar project, make my costume, etc. by Friday. Gonna
be a rough week again.
