From Fred Sampson’s blog - yet another reason why GWB should not be president.
And I know there are going to be New Yorkers and others bitching about how it was a major, multi-state catastrophe, not at all like California’s energy crisis. Guess what, guys? You know that stuff you buy in the grocery store? FOOD? Yeah– a lot of that was grown here by people who had to pay a LOT MORE in electricity so that Shrub’s Texan friends (interstate commerce laws!) could get filthy stinking rich. You think California’s energy crisis wasn’t a nationwide crisis? Guess again– there is a *reason* your bread costs $3.50/loaf today, and it’s because the wheat that’s inside of it was grown using irrigation that cost 2-3 times more to run last year and the year before, processed in mills paying 2-3 times as much for electricity, and trucked across the country in trucks that are paying $2+ per gallon at the pump!
We produce….
More peaches than Georgia.
More English Walnuts than England.
More cattle than Texas.
More wheat than the entire Bread Basket of the Midwest.
Yeah, sure. It’s just a California problem. Eat up, America. I’d like to see you guys survive without us.
Dammit– I deleted my Go Away! userpic! Oh, well. Cthulhu will have to do.
