Marathon cleaning day
13-Aug-03
Yesterday was a “marathon” of cleaning for me (no, the house is not presentable yet).
Right after I got home, I spent 15 minutes doing the dishes, wiping down the counters, throwing things away.
The alarm went off.
I went into my office and decluttered the floor and my cassette tapes. I have a Big Bag of Cassettes to give or throw away.
The alarm went off.
I went back to the kitchen to sweep and quick-mop the floor.
I finished mopping. The alarm didn’t go off.
So I got the vacuum cleaner out and ran over my office floor for a bit.
The alarm went off and I put away the vacuum cleaner.
I then went and got myself a cold glass of water and sat down to relax.
I spent 45 minutes on cleaning and got the kitchen somewhat presentable, and my office floor is now cleared off.
This morning I spent another 5-10 minutes running the dishwasher again. If I spend 15 minutes doing dishes tonight, I think our kitchen will be clean.
I feel like I could spend 3 years decluttering my office and it would still not be done. But that’s life I suppose. At least it’s getting better. Inch by inch, it’s getting better. I won’t even look in the closet yet, but it’s getting better….
Tonight’s plan: 15 minutes doing dishes, 15 minutes decluttering my desk. Maybe 15 minutes decluttering camping gear from the living room.
Tomorrow night: 15 minutes cleaning the bathroom. 15 minutes decluttering the living room junk that arrived there from my office.
