Dulcimer Day

Whee!

Dulcimer Day was…. amazing. Sharon and Roberta did come, after all, which was grand, even though we weren’t in any workshops together– it was still grand. I met new people, made some friends. Got to take two workshops from Janita Baker (who totally rocks my socks!) and one from Neal Helleman (the Guy from Gourd– also rockin’!) Got some help with arranging music from Janita, playing 4-string pieces (like ragtime and blues), and a bit of Italian early music, which was pleasant as well. Ended the evening with good food and a showcase jam session where I played Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring in front of an actual audience for the first time EVAR.

Okay, you know how I play for 15 minutes a night, right? Today I played for, get this, 4 1/2 hours. Not all at once, but over the course of the day. My thumb in particular is very tired! But I had such a wonderful time.

[and.... I bought a third dulcimer! A little bitty one sized for children, but it's perfect for taking on camping trips!]
