Mmmm….
13-Jul-03
It’s hot tonight.
Chris whacked the weeds in our hill (go Chris!)
John worked today and came home kind of sick and went and crashed for about 3 hours. He never naps, so I know he’s feeling poorly.
I made dinner while he slept– beer-boiled sausages, peas, and rice, with some mango for dessert.
I don’t really like mangoes, I’ve noticed. But it was good to eat some fresh fruit today, and John desperately needed some fruits/veggies.
I watched E.T. this evening while I cooked and then after dinner. Watched the 1982 version. Spielberg– you know, you could have left the guns in there. You could have left the “terrorist” line in there. And you sure as hell didn’t need to edit out “Penis-breath,” which has got to be the very best 8-year-old-kid insult in a movie evar.
Sigh.
There’s a story behind the fondue forks– it’s like an “in” joke with my mom. I own 2 fondue pots, both of which she gave me. But she didn’t give me any forks with them, and I couldn’t find them around here. So I asked her to buy me some during her local thrift shop trips, because she often finds them. Only, get this, she doesn’t send them to me for about 2 years, even though I keep asking and she keeps finding them in the thrift stores. Finally, she gave me a set. Then another set. Then another. I got fondue forks for birthdays and Christmas and just in care packages for about a year and a half.
Last night, I cleared out the fondue forks. I am keeping 12 of them– 2 sets of 6. I never need more than that, anyway, like the chopsticks which I only need 2 or 4 sets of at any one time. The rest are going to Goodwill so someone else’s mom can find them and send them to her….
